Two Cents Play
A powerful and heartfelt stage play about
compassion, connection, and the unexpected
ways we find hope in the most unlikely places.
- THE INSPIRATION
The Story Behind Two Cents
Two Cents came to life years ago while I was in New Orleans, when a stranger approached me and simply asked for two cents. His name was Todd, and he was a homeless veteran.
I took him to a nearby bakery for a cup of coffee and something to eat. We sat together as he shared his story. When I returned to my B&B, I immediately wrote Two Cents as a short story, but I knew right then it was a story that needed to be told on stage, and one that could be used as a tool to help others.
While there are many fictional elements, the inspiration behind this piece is a tribute to all veterans, our homeless population, and the importance of compassion for one another.
"A story that needed to be told on stage, and one that could be used as a tool to help others."
